circula{\c{c}}{\~a}o atmosf{\'e}rica global do CPTEC-INPE. A
primeira fase do trabalho consistiu na instala{\c{c}}{\~a}o do
modelo global do CPTEC-INPE do supercomputador Cray XE6
(Tup{\~a}) - compilador Portland, para o cluster Lacibrido
(LAC-INPE) - compilador GNU.
magnitude do Bred Vector e maior vari{\^a}ncia do Ensemble.
neuro-difusos, redes neurais artificiais, classificadores
atmosf{\'e}ricos. ABSTRACT: Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP)
has made great progress in the last decades due to the increase of
computational power, new parameterizations of physical processes
and the increase of observational data. PNT has a huge positive
impact on human activities. The phenomena that describe the
dynamics of the atmosphere are non-linear and can present chaotic
behavior, being highly sensitive to the initial conditions. Thus,
uncertainties inherent to the atmospheric model limit the quality
of the forecast. One approach to study the evolution and
propagation of these errors is the Breeding method which consists
of a periodic evaluation of two simulations using the same model:
one simulation starting from initial reference conditions and the
other with disturbed initial conditions. Bred vectors are
differences between the simulations mentioned above, in which the
magnitude of the vector can be used as a measure of the
uncertainty of the prediction. This dissertation aims to use the
breeding technique with artificial intelligence algorithms to
evaluate the prediction quality of the CPTEC-INPE global
atmospheric circulation model. The first stage of the work
consisted in the installation of the CPTEC-INPE global model of
the Cray XE6 supercomputer (Tup{\~a}) - Portland compiler - to
the Lacibrido cluster (LAC-INPE) - GNU compiler. The breeding
technique was compared to ensemble prediction. There was a good
agreement in the regions of the planet between the greater
magnitude of the bred vector and larger variance of the ensemble.
Prediction reliability classes were defined and classification was
performed using neuro-fuzzy systems, artificial neural networks,
binary hierarquical classifiers and committee method. The results
obtained are promising, with satisfactory indexes of
classification, which makes possible the introduction of the
Breeding methodology as a tool for studying the predictability of
weather models.",
